Barr Beacon SCITT is an Ofsted Outstanding provider of Initial Teacher Training (ITT) with a thriving and diverse partnership of secondary and primary schools in the West Midlands and Warwickshire. At Barr Beacon SCITT we know what it takes to make a great teacher. We offer a well-established training, mentoring and professional development programme which leads to recommendation for QTS and a PGCE with the opportunity to gain up to 60 masters credits.

Our primary SCITT programme is run in partnership with Ryders Hayes School. We offer a Primary SCITT programmes in the age ranges 3-7 and 5-11.

Barr Beacon SCITT offers a full time secondary training programme on our 11-16 courses in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, English, Geography, History, Mathematics, French, German, Spanish, Physical Education, Physics and Religious Education and our 14-19 courses in Psychology and Business Studies.

Our School Direct teacher training programme is an excellent opportunity for graduates and career changers to join the teaching profession.
Our programme is primary with a 3 - 11 and a SEND pathway.
As well as Qualified Teacher Status, you will also gain a PGCE equivalent to a third of a master's degree with The University of Birmingham upon completion of the programme.

Hands on from the word go
On our School Direct teacher training programme, you’ll be given in-depth experience in the classroom. You will complete a main placement in a Key Stage of your choice and a second placement in a contrasting school and Key Stage. You will also have the opportunity to complete enhanced placements e.g. SEN, Early Years.
In addition, away from the classroom, you will receive practical training sessions from SLEs, experienced teachers and the team at Manor Teaching School. The University of Birmingham will also lead sessions to support your academic development.
